The Eagle Nebula with X-ray Hot Stars

The Chandra X-ray Observatory peered into the Eagle Nebula to see what its famous star pillars look like in X-ray light. While the dust pillars themselves do not emit many X-rays, many small, bright X-ray sources were found. These sources, visible as bright dots in this composite image, are young, hot stars within the nebula.
