Afternoon Analemma

NASA APOD · Ian Griffin
COSMIC MESSAGE

An analemma is the figure-8 curve created by plotting the Sun's position at the same time each day for a year. This particular analemma was made with a pinhole camera in southern New Zealand, looking north. The camera's shutter was opened each clear afternoon at 4 PM local time, exposing a photosensitized glass plate. The image spans a full year, from September 23, 2022, to September 19, 2023.
