COSMIC MESSAGE
This brilliant fireball meteor briefly outshone Jupiter in the night sky. The image was captured in Canada on December 14, near the peak of the Geminid meteor shower. The Geminids are an annual gift from asteroid 3200 Phaethon. Dust shed along the asteroid's orbit causes these meteor streaks as they vaporize in Earth's atmosphere.
