Unusual Nebula Pa 30
The nebula Pa 30 is the remnant of a rare type of supernova, a thermonuclear Type Iax. This event was seen as a bright "guest star" in 1181. Unlike typical novae or planetary nebulae, the filaments of Pa 30 suggest a different kind of stellar explosion.
