“Facing NGC 1232” is copyrighted by Neil Corke. NASA has permission to show it and we don't, so it isn't on this card.
See it on NASA's siteWe see NGC 1232 face-on from our position in the Milky Way. This large, beautiful spiral galaxy, nearly 200,000 light-years across, is about 47 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus. This sharp, multi-color image reveals intricate details. Its core glows with the yellowish light of old stars, transitioning to young blue star clusters and reddish star-forming regions in its outer arms.
