We see NGC 1232 face-on from our position in the Milky Way. This large, beautiful spiral galaxy, nearly 200,000 light-years across, is about 47 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus. This sharp, multi-color image reveals intricate details. Its core glows with the yellowish light of old stars, transitioning to young blue star clusters and reddish star-forming regions in its outer arms.
