Manicouagan Impact Crater from Space

Orbiting 400 kilometers above Quebec, Canada, the International Space Station crew captured this view of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Manicouagan. The ring-shaped lake is a reservoir within the eroded remnant of an ancient 100-kilometer impact crater. Over 200 million years old, the crater is a visible reminder of Earth's vulnerability to space rocks.
