SH2-308: The Dolphin Head Nebula

NASA APOD · Prabhu Kutti
COSMIC MESSAGE

Blown by fast winds from a massive, hot star, the cosmic bubble Sharpless 2-308 is enormous. This nebula, about 5,000 light-years away in Canis Major, covers more sky than a Full Moon. That means it's about 60 light-years in diameter. The star at its center is a Wolf-Rayet star, which is over twenty times the mass of our Sun.
