Iridescent Clouds over Sweden

These iridescent clouds over Sweden display a rare phenomenon where they appear multi-colored. Known as nacreous or mother-of-pearl clouds, they are polar stratospheric clouds made of small water droplets of uniform size. When the Sun is hidden from direct view but in the right position, these thin clouds diffract sunlight, creating a spectrum of colors.
