Supernova 2025rbs in NGC 7331

Fifty million light-years away, a star exploded in galaxy NGC 7331. Light from that supernova, 2025rbs, was first detected by telescopes on Earth on July 14. This is a Type Ia supernova, likely caused by the thermonuclear detonation of a white dwarf star. It is currently the brightest supernova in Earth's sky.
