Large galaxies often grow by absorbing smaller ones, a process sometimes called galactic cannibalism. This image shows NGC 1532, a distorted spiral galaxy, in a gravitational struggle with a dwarf galaxy. This interaction, a common sight in the universe, is happening over 50 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus.
