In Finnish myth, the aurora borealis, or northern lights, are sparks cast into the heavens by an arctic fox running so fast its tail brushes the mountains. The Finnish word for the aurora, "revontulet," translates to "fire fox." This image, taken in Finnish Lapland near Kilpisjarvi Lake, shows the aurora over a snowy, moonlit landscape.
