Mars has two small moons, Phobos and Deimos. Phobos, seen here in an image from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, is the larger of the two. It is a captured asteroid, battered by impacts, and orbiting so close to Mars that it will eventually break apart or crash into the planet.
