Shadow of a Martian Robot
The Opportunity rover explored Mars from 2004 to 2018, providing evidence of ancient water on the Red Planet. In this 2004 image, Opportunity looks into Endurance Crater, seeing its own shadow. Two of its wheels are visible in the foreground, with the floor and walls of the crater in the background. The rover sent many images back to Earth.
