Centaurus A, also known as NGC 5128, is the closest active galaxy to Earth, only 11 million light-years away. This Hubble Space Telescope close-up shows a region spanning about 8,500 light-years around its center. The galaxy is over 60,000 light-years across and appears to be the result of two normal galaxies colliding. This collision created a violent mix of star-forming regions and massive star clusters.
