Messier 106, also known as NGC 4258, is a large, bright spiral galaxy that dominates this cosmic view. Located in the constellation Canes Venatici, it is about 80,000 light-years across and 23.5 million light-years away. M106 is the largest member of the Canes II galaxy group, and its distance is well-known due to direct measurement.
