NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This image from the James Webb Space Telescope shows planetary nebula Tc 1, where buckyballs were first identified in 2010. Buckyballs, or Buckminsterfullerene, are molecules with 60 carbon atoms arranged like a soccer ball. This nebula formed when a star shed its outer layers, and these complex carbon molecules are now present in its expanding gas.
