This 1973 Skylab image captures one of the largest eruptive prominences ever recorded on our Sun. Our Sun is a normal star, formed about five billion years ago, and will continue for another five billion. It is primarily made of hydrogen and helium, and its core is hot enough to fuse hydrogen.
