Orion's Horsehead Nebula

NASA APOD · Anglo-Australian Telescope Board
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Horsehead Nebula, a dark cloud of dust, is seen here silhouetted against a glowing red emission nebula. It's located in the constellation Orion, a familiar sight in the night sky. The dark shape is a dense cloud blocking the light from behind it, much like a cloud in Earth's atmosphere.
