Planets Around Sun-Like Stars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Astronomers have long wondered if many Sun-like stars have planets. Only recently have we begun to find answers. This plot summarizes the four known cases of normal stars with planets, including our own Solar System. The other three, 51 Pegasi, 70 Virginis, and 47 Ursae Majoris, were discovered by astronomers led by Geoff Marcy and Paul Butler as part of a project inspecting 120 stars.
