The Helix Nebula, a planetary nebula 450 light-years away, was formed by winds from a dying, sun-like star. The Hubble Space Telescope discovered thousands of 'cometary knots' within its gaseous envelope. These knots, though resembling comets, are much larger, with heads several billion miles across.
