COSMIC MESSAGE

The Helix Nebula, also known as NGC 7293, is one of the closest planetary nebulae to Earth, about 450 light-years away in the constellation Aquarius. This image shows it glowing red from energized nitrogen and hydrogen atoms. It represents a brief, final stage in the life of a star similar to our Sun.
