COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet Hyakutake continued its orbit around the Sun, remaining visible into late March 1996. This picture, taken on March 24th from Mount Teide, shows the comet with a tail over 50 degrees long. The photographer used a flash during the three-minute exposure to illuminate the foreground tree, creating a striking contrast.
