COSMIC MESSAGE
Astronauts returned from the Moon in the upper part of the Lunar Module, leaving the lower section behind. This upper section carried extra rocket fuel to blast off and rendezvous with the Command Module, which orbited the Moon with its pilot. This image, taken by a robotic TV camera left on the Moon, shows the ascent stage lifting off.
