Voyager's Preview of Galileo at Ganymede

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Voyager captured this view of Ganymede, Jupiter's largest moon, before Galileo arrived to study it up close. Galileo, launched in 1989, dropped a probe into Jupiter's atmosphere and then began orbiting the gas giant. This image was a preview of the detailed exploration Galileo would undertake, including its first close flyby of Ganymede.
