NASA APOD · Anglo-Australian Telescope Board
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 3293 is a bright, young open star cluster in the constellation Carina. Located about 8,000 light-years away, it has a high abundance of hot, blue stars. Studies suggest these blue stars are around 6 million years old, while the cluster's dimmer, redder stars appear to be about 20 million years old. This implies that star formation in NGC 3293 took at least 14 million years.
