SOHO's Twin Sungrazers
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
These two comets were captured by the LASCO instrument on the SOHO solar observatory. They are arcing towards a fiery encounter with the Sun. The image shows a portion of LASCO's circular occulting disk, which blocks the blinding direct sunlight. A bright solar wind region extends to the right, and the Sun's edge is outlined for scale.
