This panorama of the lunar surface was created from images by the US Surveyor 6 lander in November 1967. Surveyor 6 was the first spacecraft to land on the Moon and then lift off again. It briefly fired its rocket engine, hopping about four meters into the air and moving 2.5 meters across the surface.
