The center of our Milky Way Galaxy is a busy place, filled with stars, gas, and dust. This annotated image points out many of the objects we can see from Earth. The galactic center lies in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius, about 26,000 light-years away. At its very heart is a supermassive black hole called Sagittarius A*.
