A Night Sky over the Tatra Mountains

The Tatra Mountains, forming a natural border between Slovakia and Poland, are a prominent destination for astrophotographers. In this May image, the center of our Milky Way galaxy is visible above the peaks. Two well-known stellar nurseries, the Lagoon Nebula and the Omega Nebula, appear just above the mountains. These regions are rich in ionized hydrogen, a key component for star formation.
