Saturn at Night

Saturn's rings and night side are not visible from telescopes closer to the Sun than Saturn. The Cassini spacecraft, however, captured this view of Saturn's slender sunlit crescent with night's shadow cast across its broad and complex ring system. This robot spacecraft, from Earth, provided a unique perspective of the planet. Saturn remains a prominent sight in Earth's night skies.
