Billions of years from now, only one of these two galaxies will remain. Spiral galaxies NGC 2207 and IC 2163 are slowly pulling each other apart, creating tides of matter and bursts of star formation. Astronomers predict that the larger NGC 2207 will eventually incorporate IC 2163.
