The nebula around Wolf-Rayet star 18, also known as NGC 3199, shines brighter on one side. This massive, hot, short-lived star is near the nebula's center, about 12,000 light-years away in Carina. The bubble-shaped nebula is about 75 light-years across. This deep image highlights the filamentary details of the glowing gas.
