3C 295: X-rays From A Giant Galaxy

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The giant elliptical galaxy 3C 295, located five billion light-years away, is a strong source of radio waves. This Chandra Observatory image shows bright knots of X-ray emission at its center. These emissions are believed to result from an explosive event, likely triggered by a supermassive black hole at the galaxy's heart consuming too much material.
