30 Doradus is a huge star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a nearby galaxy. Its spidery appearance gives it the popular name Tarantula Nebula. This tarantula is about 1,000 light-years across and 165,000 light-years away in the southern constellation Dorado.
