COSMIC MESSAGE
This infrared image shows the location of SGR 1900+14, the strongest known magnet in our galaxy. It is believed to be a magnetar, a city-sized, spinning neutron star with an incredibly powerful magnetic field. Earth's magnetic field is about 1 Gauss, but a magnetar's field can be a thousand trillion Gauss. These objects are extreme examples of stellar remnants.
