The Sun Also Rises

COSMIC MESSAGE
Sunrise from low Earth orbit is a dramatic sight. This view from the space shuttle Endeavor shows the Sun peaking over towering anvil-shaped storm clouds. The red color of the lowest atmospheric layer is due to sunlight filtering through suspended dust. Above it, the blue stripe is caused by ozone, which absorbs red light.
