Who has been marking up Mars? This high-resolution image from the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft shows twisting dark trails on the Martian surface. These trails are about 3 kilometers wide. Researchers have identified them as the work of miniature wind vortices, known as Martian dust devils. They are another example of wind processes on the red planet.
