COSMIC MESSAGE
The Medusa Nebula, also known as Abell 21, is an old planetary nebula about 1,500 light-years away in Gemini. Its braided, serpentine filaments of glowing gas give it its popular name. This nebula represents a final stage in the evolution of low-mass stars like the Sun, as they shed their outer layers and become white dwarfs.
