HH111's 12 Light-Year Star Jet

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This image shows HH111, a protostar located about 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Orion. It is ejecting powerful jets of gas and dust into space, stretching for 12 light-years. These jets, known as Herbig-Haro objects, are formed as material falls onto a young star and is then expelled at high speeds, interacting with surrounding interstellar gas.
