A Spherule from Outer Space
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
When a meteorite hits the Moon, the impact melts some of the rock. Some of that molten rock cools into tiny glass beads called spherules. This spherule, only a quarter of a millimeter across, was collected by an Apollo mission. It has a tiny crater on its upper left, evidence of an even smaller impact.
