COSMIC MESSAGE

In 1998, the BOOMERANG telescope, carried by a balloon over Antarctica, looked at the early universe in millimeter wavelengths. It detected subtle temperature fluctuations in the hot plasma that filled the cosmos about 300,000 years after the Big Bang. These blotchy structures are the seeds of the stars and galaxies we see today.
