An Iridium Flash Sunset

NASA APOD · Jon Teus (Science Society Aranzadi, Spain)
COSMIC MESSAGE

That quick flash of light was sunlight reflecting off an Iridium satellite. These satellites, part of a constellation of 66, can be brighter than any star, sometimes even rivaling the Moon. Since Sputnik in 1957, we have been adding glints and streaks to the night sky. The Iridium constellation is programmed to de-orbit, so these flashes will not be visible forever.
