Unusual channels inside a small crater within Mars's large Newton Crater. These channels, about 3,000 meters across, run from the top down to the crater floor. High-resolution images from the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft show these and other gullies. On Earth, similar features are formed by flowing water, but Mars is usually too cold for liquid water on the surface.
