Star Trails In Southern Skies

NASA APOD · Anglo-Australian Observatory
COSMIC MESSAGE

As Earth spins, stars appear to rotate around us. This time exposure of the southern sky shows the beautiful concentric arcs traced by stars around the South Celestial Pole. The dome of the Anglo-Australian Telescope is in the foreground. Unlike the North, the South Celestial Pole does not have a bright star nearby.
