M16: Stars from Eagle's EGGs
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Newborn stars are forming in the Eagle Nebula, also known as M16. The Hubble Space Telescope captured pillars of molecular hydrogen gas and dust, from which evaporating gaseous globules, or EGGs, emerge. These pillars are light-years long, and inside them, gas contracts to form stars. The intense radiation from bright young stars causes the low-density material to boil away, revealing these dense stellar nurseries.
