COSMIC MESSAGE
Globular star cluster Palomar 13 has roamed the halo of our Milky Way Galaxy for 12 billion years. This composite color image shows it as a sparse cluster of stars, one of the smallest and faintest known. Observations over forty years indicate Palomar 13's orbit is highly eccentric, bringing it close to the galactic core every one or two billion years.
