Degas Ray Crater on Mercury

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Mercury, like Earth's Moon, is scarred with craters from intense bombardment in the early Solar System. Mariner 10 captured this image in 1974. The bright rays emanating from the 45-kilometer-wide Degas crater are made of light-colored material blasted out during its formation. Older craters near Degas are partially covered by these rays.
