COSMIC MESSAGE
On December 13, a grain of dust created this long fireball meteor as it entered Earth's atmosphere. This happened near the peak of the annual Geminid meteor shower. Our planet passes through the dust trail of asteroid 3200 Phaethon each year, causing the meteors to appear to radiate from a point in the constellation Gemini.
