Pulsar Wind in the Vela Nebula
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Ten thousand years ago, a star exploded. What remained was the Vela pulsar, spinning eleven times a second, with the mass of our Sun packed into a sphere just twenty kilometers across. This Chandra Observatory X-ray image shows the pulsar generating a nebula at the heart of the expanding cloud of stellar debris.
